ASCII Motion supports exporting your artwork in multiple formats, from images and videos to code and data files.

Export Settings

Each format has its own configuration options:

Image Export (PNG, JPEG, SVG)

  • Size multiplier (1x, 2x, 3x, 4x)
  • Include grid option
  • JPEG quality (for .jpg)
  • SVG: Text as outlines, prettify

Metadata

Info

All exports include metadata about your project: creation date, app version, and project settings.

Metadata is embedded in:

  • PNG/JPEG as EXIF data
  • SVG as comments
  • JSON/HTML as data attributes
  • Session files as structured data

Export Workflow Tips

For Social Media

  1. Export as PNG at 2x or 4x size
  2. Ensure good contrast for visibility
  3. For animations: export MP4 for best compatibility

For Websites

  1. Use SVG for scalable graphics
  2. Or HTML for self-playing animations
  3. React components for React-based sites

For Archiving

  1. Always save a Session file for future editing
  2. Sessions preserve all project data
  3. Can be re-imported to continue working

For Sharing

  1. Text format for forums and chats
  2. JSON for data interchange
  3. Image for visual sharing

Performance Notes

  • Large canvases may take longer to export
  • Video export processes frame by frame
  • Progress indicator shows status
  • Don't close the browser during export
